A Journey Through Time: The Evolution of Ryser’s Landscape Supply

How It Started

Marty Ryser, our founder, kicked off his journey as a teenager in Lincroft, mowing lawns. He didn’t just stop there; he saw an opportunity and grabbed it. Marty bought his own mowers and equipment, and soon enough he was running his own lawn care business, Ryser’s Lawn & Tree, with more than 25 lawns to his name by senior year.

A Crossroads in Life

After high school, Marty faced a tough decision: should he follow family tradition and become a police officer, or commit to his growing business? Marty’s dad and other family members had careers in the police force, making it a compelling path. However, the entrepreneurial spirit won out, and Marty decided to focus on his landscaping business full-time.

Family Owned and Operated

Marty’s dad was instrumental in the founding of Ryser’s Landscape Supply. He told Marty about a vacant property in Little Silver where he could store equipment and supplies. Marty, along with his wife Carol, transformed this space into the cornerstone of our business, officially opening Ryser’s Landscape Supply in 1996. Their son Devin has joined the family operation and is already making significant contributions.

Part of the Community

Ryser’s is a name that the local community trusts. Many staff members and customers have been with us since Marty’s lawn-mowing days. The business has deep roots in Little Silver, New Jersey, not just as a retail space but also as a trusted neighbor. Marty always says, “We’ve made some wonderful friends through the years. They’ve watched us grow from the beginning.”
